Class 2 HGV Driver

We are recruiting on behalf of our client in Northampton for a permanent HGV Class 2 Driver to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional driver looking for stable, weekday work with excellent benefits and full Moffett training provided.

The Role

You will be delivering palletised goods (mainly to construction and drylining sites) using a curtainsider vehicle. The role offers a great balance of driving and customer interaction, with minimal manual handling.

• Average 2 runs per day
• Typically 5–6 drops per day (additional drops are local only)
• Deliveries across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire + 30-mile radius
• Occasional delivery into Central London (Kentish Town)
• 80% site deliveries
• Start time 06:30, finish around 16:00–17:00
• No weekends or bank holidays

Most deliveries are unloaded by the customer using FLT. For smaller sites, you’ll use a Moffett (full training provided and paid for).

What you’ll be doing

• Confirm delivery instructions, plan routes, and meet schedules
• Complete delivery paperwork and obtain customer signatures
• Carry out checks to ensure correct and complete deliveries
• Report any delivery issues, restrictions, or delays
• Drive safely and professionally at all times
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure roadworthiness
• Supervise loading to ensure safe and compliant loads
• Report any accidents or incidents in line with procedures
• Support warehouse operations when required (loading, stock, housekeeping)
• Operate a Moffett Mounty fork truck (training provided if needed)

About You

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Minimum 2 years’ HGV driving experience
• Maximum 6 points (no major endorsements)
• Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
• Comfortable with or willing to be trained on a Moffett
• Strong awareness of health & safety
• Reliable, professional, and customer-focused
