Christmas Postal Delivery Workers

The Christmas period is naturally a very busy time of year for Royal Mail. To help handle the increased volumes of mail they require casual workers to deliver post, with start dates from mid-October through to mid/late-December. As the face of Royal Mail you will work as part of a team ensuring they continue to deliver the high standards of service customers expect as postal delivery sorters.
This position is working in a fast paced environment and you'll be working to efficient methods to meet business performance targets. A delivery office can process over a million items in a shift and you'll be a valuable part of making that happen.
As postal delivery workers you will need to be flexible and adaptable, changing from one role to another to move the work quickly along the processing chain. There will be the need from time to time for you to work as a postal sorter as and when the business requires.
Security vetting will need to be carried out prior to the start of assignments. A complete five year work history and five year address history will be required, along with a criminal record check of which we will complete on registration.
As a postal delivery worker you must have:
- DVLA issued driving licence with category B/B1
- No more than 6 penalty points
- No IN/DD/DR endorsements
- Be confident in driving a manual delivery van
Hours of work: 08:00-15:00
Days of work: Five shifts over six days, Monday to Saturday.
Hourly pay rate: Monday to Friday £8.20
As a postal delivery workers you will need to be:
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to work to tight deadlines
- Accurate and have attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable as you are likely to undertake several different tasks in one shift
- Able to walk for long periods of time
- Able to push fully loaded postal trolleys
Shifts will be allocated on a first come first serve basis at point of security checks being returned as clear, so we advise that you book early to avoid disappointment.
Most sites operate across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The shift times are subject to change based on mail volume forecasts, therefore flexibility will be paramount.
