HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver

Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) (Tramper) Driver to join BOC Gases in Immingham on a permanent basis.

This is a nationwide tramping position, primarily working Monday to Friday depending on workload, delivering special gas drums to customer sites across the UK.

Drivers will operate a Category C sleeper cab with a drawbar trailer (wagon & drag). As the drawbar will be used regularly, applicants must hold a full Category C+E / Class 1 licence.
 
What will I be paid?

• £46,000 p/a
• Salary based on an average 46-hour working week
• Overnight allowance starting at £74 per night (rising to £99)

 
What hours will I be working?

• Monday to Friday
• Nationwide tramping
• Operating from the Immingham site
• Occasional additional working may be required depending on operational requirements

 
What will I be doing?

• Completing nationwide deliveries of drums to customer locations, driving a Category C rigid dropside vehicle
• Operating a sleeper cab with a drawbar trailer / wagon & drag
• Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment safety checks
• Safely securing loads prior to departure
• Completing delivery documentation and tachograph records accurately
• Following drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport regulations
• Providing a professional service when dealing with customers
• Adhering to strict Health & Safety procedures when transporting and delivering goods

 
What do I need?

• A valid HGV Class 1 / Category C+E licence and previous experience driving Class 1 vehicles
• Experience with wagon & drag / drawbar vehicles would be highly advantageous
• Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
• A valid ADR licence covering all required classes except Classes 1 and 7
• Maximum 3 penalty points for minor offences
• Good knowledge of drivers' hours and commercial driving regulations
• Comfortable with regular Monday-to-Friday tramping and nights away from home
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety
• Willing to complete the required driving assessment, DBS check and Drug & Alcohol test
